Animal ID: 23616Pepper (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Pepper. I'm approximately 3 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. My pal Pinto and I were found as strays in the East Liverpool area. It was in the country and none of the neighbors around owned us or even knew where we could have came from, so it would appear that we had been dumped off by our owner for whatever reason. I am a very sweet and loving dog. I am very happy and friendly with people. I get along well with all of the other dogs that I have been around since arriving at the pound. I definitely appear to have been a house dog. I keep my kennel clean and I am a very good boy when I am inside. If you're looking for a ... (Read More)great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Animal ID: 23016Zeus (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Zeus. I'm around 4 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs (I'm very underweight). I am a phenomenal dog with an awesome personality. I am looking for a Shepherd Savvy home that will be able to finish up my training and help me reach my full potential. I am a really smart boy, I just need some training and consistency. What you should know about me: I LOVE water!! I love playing in the pools here!!! I love going for car rides and I will try to drag you to the car if I want to go somewhere! I am very vocal if I want something too, I'll tell ya all about it. I get along well with other dogs and I have also been around cats in ... (Read More)my previous home and I did well with them too. I was in very poor shape when I was surrendered. I had ear infections, very bad skin and I was really skinny. I have seen a vet and had a full blood panel done. Everything appeared good. I had a 4DX test done also, it was negative for heartworm and the tick borne diseases. I am currently on antibiotics for my skin and my ears are being treated. I am feeling much better, but my new family needs to understand that I may require a special diet any may require additional vet care to get me completely straightened around. If you're looking for a nice dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Patches. I'm approximately 4 years old and I weigh 50.8 lbs. My friend Lily and I were surrendered to the pound by our owner because she was moving to a place where we weren't allowed to go. We used to be house dogs but owner moved in with her Dad and he had a house dog and we didn't mix well with her so our owner had been keeping us in a kennel outside. I am not an outgoing and overly friendly dog yet. I was very undersocialized so it has taken me some time to come around here but I am truly doing well now. I love to go on walks and be with the people here at the pound. I also like being petted and getting attention, ... (Read More)but fast movements and restraint/ hugging frightens me.The pound feels that, at this time, I wouldn't do well in a home with children under age 10. I do well with other dogs after a slow, proper introduction. I have lived with and been around other dogs my whole life, but when I first meet them it can be a little bit overwhelming for me at first. I am going to be a really, truly wonderful dog if someone can just spend a little bit of time with me building my confidence. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health.     Hi there. My name is Baca. I'm 5 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound, along with my friend Magnus, because my owner moved and couldn't keep us any longer. I am a very sweet and loving dog. I get along well with other dogs and I love people. I am a really good boy. I like going for walks and spending time out in the play yard with my buddy Magnus. I don't really play much with toys because Magnus is kind of a toy hog. The girls here at the pound usually put Magnus and I out in the play yard together to run around and play.     Hi there. My name is Dougie. I'm around 5 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Alliance area and I was picked up by the pound. I had terrible skin problems when I first came in. I also had very bad ear infections. My health conditions were clearly neglected by my former owners. Animal ID: 14216Bob Cornfoot (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there, folks! My name is Bob Cornfoot. I'm around 2 years old and I weigh 85.6 lbs. I was found surrendered to the pound by my (new) owner because I didn't mix well with the other dogs they had. They had a really annoying puppy that just wouldn't leave me alone. I didn't want to bite the puppy, but he just wouldn't leave me be. They only had me for 2 days and wouldn't keep the puppy away from me. I was in a strange environment with strange dogs and strange people. I was not comfortable yet. I really tried to be a good boy! The people even said that I am potty trained and I was good with their kids. I am great with the other dogs that I ... (Read More)have been around here at the pound. I would be especially good with a dog that is calmer and quiet. I don't really like all of the commotion and crazy puppy shenanigans. If you currently have any other dogs, I need to meet them prior to adoption to make sure we get along well. I am a very big, very strong fellow. My family will need to be able to handle my strength. It is highly advised that my new family gets in touch with a trainer to help me with leash manners if they don't know how to work with me. I don't know any better and I will drag you all over the place. I am a really wonderful boy here at the pound. When it is nice outside, I love being left in the large fenced play area here. I love lounging around in the warm sunshine in the grass. Though I can be quite a vocal boy when I'm playing or waiting on a treat, I tend to be very quiet in the yard. I really enjoy it out there even when I'm left alone. I usually just go get a ball and roll around or lay around with it in my mouth. I really love the big, heavy duty rubber Kong ball here. It easily withstands my chewing and has become my favorite. Maybe my new family could get me some... Anyhow, that's kind of all I can tell you about myself. If you think I would be a good match for your family, please consider adopting me! I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. I also tested negative for heartworm on 4/13/16 My pull fee for any approved rescue group has been fully sponsored by my friends Teresa and Karen!! Big sloppy dog kisses to my friends!     Hi there. My name is Duke. I'm just a little over a year old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was adopted from the pound here a couple of months ago(My name was Poacher when I was here before). My family really loved me and they really, really didn't want to get rid of me, but some of the neighbors really hated the barking that I did when my owners went away. I was kept in the house, in my crate when they would go away. I guess I just got bored or whatever, so i would bark. I bark here too... mostly when I am in my kennel, but sometimes when I am out in the play yard and I get excited. Barking is definitely common amongst coonhounds, but ... (Read More)barking for no reason is something that should be corrected. I am a really great dog aside from the barking issue. I am very friendly with people. I absolutely love other dogs and I am very silly and playful. I do pretty well inside, though I do still need a little work on my potty training. I am really hoping that a new family will see my true potential and open up their heart and home to me. If you're looking for a wonderful, sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health.
