Rescue Me ID: 16-08-29-00196Dozer (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Dozer. I'm around 2 years old and I weigh 73.8 lbs. I was rescued from my 'home' where I was tied up at and had no food, water or shelter available to me. Some folks around the neighborhood had told the girl from the pound about me. They said my owner was in jail. They said he didn't treat me good at all or even feed me on a regular basis, because according to him 'the skinner, the hungrier, the better'... Well, thanks to some folks that would sneak me food, I wasn't too terribly thin when I was picked up, but I would look even more fabulous with just a few more pounds. I am a VERY friendly boy! I love affection and I ... (Read More)give great kisses! I know some basic commands and tricks and I listen and mind my manners pretty well. I have gotten along well with all of the other dogs that I have been around here at the pound, but as always, if you're interested in adopting me and have another dog, please bring them to meet me prior to adoption to ensure that we get along okay. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. American Bulldog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My my name is Chance. I'm a 100+ lb, 4 year old, purebred American Bulldog searching for a new home. A volunteer met someone with me, under the false pretense that I was a stray. When she got there to meet the person with me, she found out that he was actually my owner and he said he was getting rid of me because I was unruly and had too much energy... I have never been trained one bit. I spent my nights in the basement and my days chained up outside. I am big and strong and just exactly what American Bulldogs are. I can be stubborn, but I am smart and I WANT to learn, I just don't know how to. I am food motivated so that will be a ... (Read More)great way to help my new folks to train me. As far as getting along with other dogs, I do good in general. I wouldn't do well with a dominant dog, but I am good with a dog who will submit to me. Sometimes I come on a bit strong at first, but with a good introduction, I usually do great. If you're looking for a sweet, big dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. (Less)

Hi there. My name is Nikki. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs. When I first came in a little over a year ago, my old owners decided they didn't want me anymore so they put an ad on facebook that someone needed to come get me or they were gonna shoot me!!! Can you believe that?!?!? Anyhow, someone came out and save me from those horrible people but they couldn't keep me either so they had to have the pound get me. I was adopted out when I was 3 months old. I needed a lot of training and I needed to learn my manners. My new owner was just having too much trouble with me so I was recently returned. My old owner said I didn't get along with other dogs either, but I have been great with other dogs since I have been back here at the pound. I LOVE to run around and play with them, and aside from a little humping every now and again, I have been very appropriate when I play. I do still need some training. I need some basic manners still such as no jumping. I am a really sweet girl and with some training and consistency, I am going to make someone a fabulous friend. Oh... and one more thing... Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Olivia. I'm 2 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs. The pound received a called and came out to the place where I used to live. They said I was being neglected, but that really doesn't describe my terrible life I've had up until arriving at the pound. At my old house, I lived outside in a kennel. It had deep mud and my only escape from the mud was my old dog house. I was bred every heat cycle to make my owner more money, because according to him, a dog who can't be bred 'ain't worth ****'... It was obvious that my underweight, frail, flea-ridden body couldn't handle birthing and raising litter and litter of babies like that, ... (Read More)but I did because I had to. My owner did relinquish me to the pound, so I can now be vetted and adopted to a loving family who will keep me in the house with them and love me forever even if I can't make puppies anymore. I am a sweet girl. I can be a little shy at first but I warm up fast. I get very scared if someone raises their voice or moves too fast. I would benefit from a lot of socialization and positive training. I get along good with the other dogs that I have been around here at the pound. I should meet any dogs that are already part of your family to ensure we get along prior to adoption. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adoping me.     Hi there. My name is Princess. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh 42.6 lbs. I was found as a stray in East Liverpool. Let me start by telling you, my first 3 years of my life have been quite chaotic. When I came into the pound, they scanned me for a microchip. I was already chipped so they looked it up. They contacted my previous owner who lives in CT. He said that he had me boarded at a vet hospital and wasn't able to take me back (his reasoning wasn't specific as to why), so the vet hospital kept me there. The vet hospital did end up finally finding me a home. The guy was a great guy and it was perfect for me. He was a truck driver and he ... (Read More)took me all over the place with him. Unfortunately for me, the company he drove for said that he couldn't take me with him anymore just because I am a Pit Bull! He was at a truck stop in WV and some people struck up a conversation with him. They said they thought I was really beautiful and they really liked me. He thought they were going to be a good home for me and they really seemed to want me so he gave me to them. Well, the very next morning, I was found in East Liverpool down by the river. Now I am at the pound and looking for one of those forever homes I keep hearing about. I am a very playful, sweet, smart and loving little pittie girl. I give endless kisses and cuddles and I am always overjoyed to see you! I LOVE playing with squeaky toys and balls. I have been VERY good inside since I have been here. I know basic commands and a few tricks. I am pretty good with most other dogs for the most part. I am very high energy and I don't always properly channel my excitement and I can come on a little strong, but usually with a proper introduction I do just fine. if you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Hello. My name is Amia. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. My owners abandon me here at the pound one night with a backpack full my my stuff but they didn't leave a note or call or anything to explain WHY they didn't want me anymore.     Hi there. My name is Star. I'm 2 years old and I weigh 49.5 lbs. I was taken in by the pound after they'd received a call about some abandoned dogs. When the pound went out on the complaint, it was extremely hot. None of us dogs had any water and I was suffering from heat exhaustion and had to be carried to the van. Once all of us dogs were loaded, the girl from the pound drove us and got a bag of ice and put some in our crates. I was still pretty hot when I got here to the pound, but after a little while I cooled off and now I'm just fine. Aside from missing hair due to a flea allergy (we were all polluted with fleas) I appear to be in ... (Read More)good shape! I am a very sweet, loving and happy girl. You'd never know that I have lived a life of neglect. I LOVE people and I get along well with all of the other dogs that I have been around here. I used to live my life on a chain, but all of that has changed for me now and I could't be happier... or maybe I could in my very own family! I have a lot of energy, so I would benefit from a family that can give me plenty of exercise. I will likely need some training and guidance as I transition to life as a house dog. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Animal ID: 24016Mocha (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Mocha. I'm around 3 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs (I'm quite hefty for my size). I was found as a stray in the Rogers area by some Sheriff's deputies. I was at the intersection of 2 very busy roads. I was lost and limping pretty badly on one of my front legs. They called the pound and one of the girls met them and picked me up. I was seen by a vet and had x-rays done. There wasn't anything broken. I also had a heartworm/ lyme test done and it was negative. The vet thinks that all of my pain is from a muscle in my shoulder, possibly torn or sprained. I am a VERY sweet girl. I love everyone I meet. I am wonderful with ... (Read More)both adults and children. I am very fun and playful like a young dog should be, but I am also pretty well mannered and obedient for the most part. I get along well with other dogs of all sizes as long as they're friendly towards me. I was definitely a house dog in my previous life. I never mess in my kennel or in the office, which is a good indicator that I am likely housebroken. I LOVE to curl up next to you on the couch and give you kisses too. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me! Rescue Me ID: 16-07-17-00194Josie (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Josie. I'm around 3 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. I was found as a stray in Wellsville and I was picked up by the pound. I spent some time here at the pound, then I was adopted. The family had kids and they totally loved me, and I loved them. They also had a rabbit and a cat, neither of which I had interest in becoming friends with. Needless to say, the other pets were in the household first, so I was returned to the pound. They said I was a wonderful girl the whole time the had me except the above mentioned issue. They said I was wonderful with the kids, great in the house and that I am housebroken... they were ... (Read More)really sad that they had to bring me back, but they couldn't risk me injuring (or worse) the rabbit and cat. I am a wonderful girl here at the pound too. I am clean in my kennel. I am very friendly and social with people who come in. I am good on a leash after the first couple of minutes. The list goes on and on. I get along well with MALE dogs around my own size. I don't really like female dogs or small dogs of either sex. I am VERY playful with large male dogs and the pound hasn'thad any issues with me with bigger sized males. I love going up to the play yard and running around with my 'boyfriends'. Prety much my only 'problem' here is that I have absolutely no trouble climbing a 6' fence and I can do it in a matter of seconds, so I have to be supervised at all times when I am outside playing. The pound suggests that even if my new family has a fence, I should still be supervised when I am outside to potty or that I should have strong tie out or be walked when I am out to potty. If you're looking for a nice dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Rosebud. I'm around 1 year old and I weigh around 40 lbs (very thin). I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and I was brought in to the pound. I wasn't in the greatest shape when I was found, but it is obvious that I hadn't been on the streets for long. I was likely just not being care for in my previous home and somehow ended up being thrown out on the streets. I am a very sweet little girl. Sometimes I can be shy at first with new people, but I usually open right up. I get along great with other animals. The lady who found me has cats and I even did great with them. The only bad thing she could say ... (Read More)about me is that I didn't want to share my food with the other animals, an hey, being as skinny as I was... who could blame me? Anyhow, I am a pretty good girl inside. I try hard to keep my kennel clean and I am good when I am in the offices. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER JUNE 13, 2016. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. MY ADOPTION FEE IS $120 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY SPAY SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING, MICROCHIP AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO.     Hi there. My name is Baca. I'm 5 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound, along with my friend Magnus, because my owner moved and couldn't keep us any longer. I am a very sweet and loving dog. I get along well with other dogs and I love people. I am a really good boy. I like going for walks and spending time out in the play yard with my buddy Magnus. I don't really play much with toys because Magnus is kind of a toy hog. The girls here at the pound usually put Magnus and I out in the play yard together to run around and play. We do play pretty well together and we have lived together for a long time but it is not ... (Read More)necessary for us to go to the same home. I get along well with the other dogs that I have been around since I have been here at the pound as well. If you're looking for a nice dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Dougie! I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Alliance area. I was thin and I had horrible skin and ear infections. I was missing about 50% of the hair from all over my body. After a couple of months, I have regrown nearly all of my hair and I am looking wonderful! I am a very friendly, happy-go-lucky kind of fellow. I enjoy spending time with people. I am very happy and fun. I LOVE car rides!. I like going for walks, getting belly rubs and snuggling up next to you. I love playing in water. This includes but isn't limited to: pools, creeks and ponds. I like and get along well with ... (Read More)most of the other dogs I have met since coming into the pound. I LOVE playing fetch too! I don't like to give you my toy (I would rather hold on to it and play tug-o-war) but if you have 2 toys, I will drop the one I have to go get the other one. I seem to like and tolerate children just fine as well. One of the volunteers that comes here to walk us dogs, brings some kids with her and I am great with them. They walk me, play with me and give me lots of belly rubs. Like most dogs, I can only be expected to take so much, so if you have children, please make sure they respect me. I appear to be housetrained also. One of the volunteers likes to take me home sometimes just to give me some time out of the pound and she can't say enough good things about me! She said I am quiet and very well behaved at home. I have been here for months and nobody can understand why. I am such a good boy. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. **UPDATE** Dougie has received a full sponsorship from Carol to go to any approved rescue group!
